This organic Honey Black Tea comes from Wuhe Village in Ruisui Township, Hualien, one of Taiwan’s renowned tea-growing regions. The tender tea buds are naturally bitten by tea green leafhoppers, which trigger the plant to produce aromatic compounds as a defense signal. Originally intended to attract the insects’ natural predators, this natural interaction unexpectedly creates the tea’s distinctive honey-like fragrance and flavor.
Unlike Oriental Beauty tea, which requires a more intricate production process, this fully oxidized black tea offers a more approachable and accessible expression. With notes of honey, ripe fruit, and a gentle sweetness, it is delightful both hot and cold. Prepared as a cold brew with 10g of tea leaves per 1000ml of water, it reveals an especially refreshing and captivating character in summer.
