Gui Fei Oolong is one of the silver linings of the 921 earthquake in Taiwan. By the time the leaves in Dong Ding Mountain were finally picked, they had been bitten by small greenhoppers.
The bites hasten the oxidation process of the leaves because the surface is damaged and therefore exposed to oxygen while still on the tree.
